Appliqued Ribbon Box...

Ribbon securely wound on clothespins

Wool appliqued Ribbon Box

This trinket box is another yard sale find that was "calling out to me."  I have appliqued and embroidered wool panels for this box
and then secured them to all sides.
The edges are finished with a glass Beaded Blanket Stitch.

My ribbons were always in a jumbled mess.
Small bits here and there and everything wrinkled...

I now use this box to store my ribbon.  The clothespins are the perfect solution for keeping the ribbon crease free and organized.
Do you have any good ideas for storing ribbon ?

  2. Thanks Joan ! The best part is I can actually see what ribbons I have, where before I could see only half of them in their tangled mess. ;)

  3. I like to use old thread spools for my narrow ribbons. I also will use the plastic spools for "generic" ribbons. I also took an old metal toolbox painted it, and covered it with all different buttons. I use it to store my straight knitting needles. Unfortunately I've found in really humid weather some of the buttons have dropped off, need to try a different glue :)

  5. I love the way you wound your ribbons on the clothes pins, they look so pretty. I wind mine on cardboard and keep in a plastic shoe box, your way is much nicer.

  10. A Great Idea... I am a Fabric Artist and I have been building a Collection of old wooden Spools to wind my Trims upon... I love the way they look in a display so I can keep everything I need in sight. I'm also using Vintage Suitcases stacked with various Fabrics and Trims inside, just hang a Tea Stained Label on the handle so you know what's inside. On Pinterest I've seen the Suitcases built into Wall Space or Cabinets and I really like that Idea too... perhaps one day The Man can build me a Custom Storage Build In for my Suitcases.
