Harvest Moon Pillow...

Ol' Harvest Moon so big and bright,
shine on me this Autumn night...

This design has always reminded me of a late Autumn night when the moon is full and the last few leaves are holding on.

I made this pillow from soft 100% wool that I hand dyed in a rich orange spice for the front.
The back is a Spicy Pumpkin Stripe wool.

I trimmed the pillow edge in a Glass Beaded Blanket Stitch
in shades of chestnut and caramel glass beads.

The moon, stark tree and leaves have been hand dyed then hand pieced and applied with a Blanket stitch.
I hand embroidered a small web in the crook of a limb and embroidered a spider with a glass bead body.

The Harvest Moon Pillow measures 14in. x 14in. (35.56cm x 35.56cm)

  1. How can something I'm so deathly afraid of be so darned cute!?! And I love the last remaining leaves on the tree! That's what everything looks like outside my window right now! This pillow is beautiful! And I'm so excited about your upcoming series......my neighbor just gifted me a trunk full of wool bits and chunks, since her daughter is no longer rug braiding! I'm so excited to put it to use!

    1. Hi Regan...
You are very fortunate ! Last year, I also was gifted several boxes of wool from a 'no longer' rug braiding friend. I was like a kid in a candy shop ! So many ideas - what to do first !
It sounds like the series on Repurposed Wool is just on time. ;)
      Thanks for stopping by...
