Penny Rug Mat...

"Penny" refers to a round circle of wool,
traditionally cut using coins or a "penny" as a template.
These circles were a wonderful way to use scraps of wool
to "make something from nothing".

These Penny Rugs measure 7.5in. (19.05cm) round.

Penny Rugs can be used as candle mats or as a "coaster"
to set your mug of coffee or hot chocolate on, as shown...

When working with wool, I save all of my "scraps", even the very small pieces, and store them in a box.  Scraps are perfect for making penny rugs, because even those very small pieces can be made into pennies.

  4. I love these penny rug mats! I don't sew with wool but I wish I did! I want to practice hand stitches and this would be a fun project. I will have to see if I can find anyone who has wool scraps.
