Green Apple and Licorice Penny Rug...

Green Apple and Licorice Penny Rug...
This is a contemporary twist on an old time favorite.
I have cut the pennies by hand and applied them with a Blanket Stitch
on a Fine Black wool background.

The base is a Midnight Houndstooth wool.
I have finished the Penny Rug with a Pulled Thread edge.

  2. Cute. I like the way the black checked fabric pennies look like they are random, not in a set pattern. Color choice is fun and creative.

  4. I've noticed that you matched the appliqué thread to the color of the wool. Should I also match the colors of my wool for a traditional penny rug/mat? What weight of thread do you use?
