A Looong Table Runner...

Wool For A Long Table Runner - ThreeSheepStudio.com

I'm dreaming up a new table runner.
My table is a long, narrow Shaker style.
The runner needs to be about
45 inches long x 7.5 inches wide

I'll most likely do a finish of wool applique.

This is my current table runner.  It has seen better days.
It's at least 12 years old and has been through the
laundry machine dozens of times.
(Coasters are tossed on top of the runner,
to use for drinks.)

I'm trying to pick out colors that might take me
for the next 10 years... the color needs
to be darker, to hide food spills.
My favorite is this green striped wool
with a rust base...

My husband likes the look of this
checked wool with the rust base.

Any opinions ??  I'm all ears...

  1. I like both, but the stripe gives you more color options for what ever you are going to applique.

  4. I like the stripes the best! :-)The colors are more saturated, so it makes more of a statement... checks are too soft...

  5. I like the checked, but I have always liked checks. What a neat idea. I like the one you did that has been there for 12 years. What fun.

  6. I like the green striped. More color choices. Both are very nice, though. 'Love Shaker style furniture.

  7. I like them both. I would have to choose depending on what the applique would be and which one would show it off the best. The applique for me would be what I'd want to stand out the most.

  10. I leaning to the check. I have always liked the sensibility of a check fabric. It reads as a neutral to me in the small check and wool applique or pennies or just about anything just adds character and dimension. Just me.

  11. OR, do a double sided piece. Maybe applique on one side and some embroidery on the other....now you have me thinking I need a new one Too! Rose you overly inspire me! :) Have a great day.

  12. I love the colours of your ten year old one, it feels very beach themed to me.

I prefer the stripy first choice of the two options. Maybe some colours of your garden to inspire you year around. Tough choice but I know you will make it work!

  13. I think they're BOTH perfectly wonderful and I'm glad YOU'RE the one who has to choose! LOL Are you going to do pennies again? Or something different? Whatever, I know it's gonna be great and I can't wait to see it!

  15. I'm fond of the stripes. I think if you use the appliqué circles or similar the strips will show better and set a lively background for whichever appliqué you choose. Would love to see your finished project, Rose!
