From our latest Embroidery Guild Meeting...
The very talented Brenda H. was working on colorful
Wool Pennies.
Beautiful color choices...
Love the addition of French Knots !
It gives them attitude. ;)
A sharpness that makes them jump out.
I can hardly wait to see what she makes with them !

My mom is an Ace penny maker. She'll love to see these!! Do I have time to learn another cool needle art?? I guess I better leave the pennies to Mom & focus on the stash I have!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the eye candy!
Kathy
Those are wonderful wool pennies. I love your little tutorial, I think I must just need some really sharp scissors. I can never get mine to look that even all of the way around. I will try my next batch using something metal like you have done. I have just used paper and have not been happy with the results.
ReplyDeleteLike those french knots a whole lot! Makes the pennies look like flowers...really cute!! Hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteLove those pennies! Thanks for the tutorial,I seem to struggle with getting them cut.Blessings,Jen
ReplyDeleteWow...those French Knots are gorgeous!! Who would have thought that such a simple little stitch or knot, could make such a huge difference in their appearance! Awesome...and I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteThose are some sassy but classy pennies. The 'little' french knots make a 'huge' difference. Like you, I can't wait to see what she makes with them...hope she lets you share :)

Hey Rose, I haven't done much blog hopping lately with the holidays and so much to do. Your pennies are so pretty and really amazing. You have so much talent in those hands of yours:) Hugs and hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving my friend!
ReplyDeleteI am new to working with wool and hope to start hooking a rug soon. However, penny rugs are catching my attention and I had to look at your tutorial and site. (Also, just learned needlepunch which I love!) I have only used DMC so far but have a some Valdani to use. I have a question. What do you use the DMC perle threads for and what weight? Can it be used for needlepunch and to make a penny rug? And the bottom piece of wool that is used as the base for the penny rug, does it have to be wool too? How do you get that mat to lay down flat? Lots of questions. My email is kazicha@gmail.com. Can't wait to explore your blog more and that pine cone pattern is calling my name. I live in North Carolina surrounded by the pines that I love and was so impressed with your pattern! thank you for sharing your knowledge, skills and designs!
