Eight Pointed Civil War Pincushion
filled with crushed walnut shells...
I've been working on several custom orders...
all of them for Civil War Pincushions.
I use crushed walnut shells to firmly fill
these wooly items. Originally, in the day,
lead buckshot was used, but I won't be using
buckshot due to the lead.
The crushed walnut shells give the pincushions
a weighty feel and they just feel good in your hand.

I recently bought a long and narrow wooden box,
14in. long x 4in. wide x 2.5in. deep
I was working on a piece of wool applique and
looking for a 'finishing' idea.
I painted the box a rustic barn red.
Placed the wool applique on the top of the lid
and lined the inside bottom with a piece of wool.
I added a small 'signature' to the inside of the lid.
I love boxes and containers of all sizes and shapes.
This Keepsake box is the perfect size
to hold needfuls and as a bonus,
fits nicely on a windowsill or other narrow place.

This 'Nesting' wool applique design
will be available soon, as a pattern.

While at the Farmers Market this week,
I saw some of the most gorgeous flowers.
Here in Pennsylvania, our 'last date for frost'
is May 15. Have to wait to plant.
Have a beautiful day ...
