A small tip about the tip (of the needle).
I punch a lot of hours in a week and my
Ultra Punch punchneedle really goes
the distance for me.
I place my Perle Cotton ball in a jelly jar...
to keep it contained when I punch.
But...
at the end of the day, I will get a little lazy,
(or maybe it's just tired),
and simply store my punchneedle,
(with it still threaded) in the jar,
(as shown, with needle out).

Every few months, my needle was getting
a bur on the tip, and I couldn't figure out why.
On several occasions,
I have taken a file to the needle tip to gently
file away the bur, (or replaced the needle).
It took me some time before I realized...
I was causing my own problem.
At the end of the day, I now retract the needle,
still threaded (because I still can be lazy, (or tired),
and want it ready to go when I pick it up again !)

I drop it into the jelly jar with the Perle Cotton ball...
(*Needle retracted*)
Not sure why it took me so long to figure this out,
but I haven't filed or replaced a needle since !

It is going to be sunny and cooking hot,
here in PA.
Have a beautiful weekend, friends...

thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip .I was noticing my tip doesn't go thru the fabric as smoothly .
ReplyDeleteYou always have the best tips! Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rose, great information. I store my thread while working in a coffee mug that has a crack and can't be used for coffee. I use a wine cork with the center hollowed a bit to park my little scissors for the same reason. I will start retracting my needle!
ReplyDeleteI see you have a fancy thread holder like mine..😁
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great tip
Great tip, thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Now I won't be buying new needles so often. I was always careful not to drop the needle tip into the little cramic cup my son made years ago, but, occassionaly....I did. Now I will retract, and be done. Thank you for sharing again.
