A Turtle Is A Turtle...

Wool Applique Turtle by Rose Clay from

If you receive my Newsletter,
then you know I made this Wool Applique Turtle
in 2007 for my 3 year old son.

Embellished with hand embroidery and glass beads.
I made it into a wall hanging for his room.

Turtles, fishing, skipping stones,
spider webs and stars at night.
Perfect for my little guy.
(Although, he's not so little any more !)

I thought it would be fun to bring
this turtle to life, in Punch Needle.
Do you see the leaves scattered in the background ?
They are very subtle and make
the background just a little more interesting.

I punched the turtle's shell with
rich, deep shades of
 variegated Valdani Perle Cotton.

Looks to be a chilly weekend...
but we're expecting a BIG warm up next week !

Have a beautiful and creative weekend my friends !

  1. I loved that turtle then and love it even more now. Gorgeous!!!!!!! Sheesh, was it really back in 2007? My how time flys.

  2. Oh Rose, this little turtle is adorable. The thread shading is so pretty. As always, very inspirational. Have a lovely week end at your end of the state. Here, all snow melted and it is warming. Many of my garden items are breaking through. Can't wait for Spring!

  3. It is just beautiful Rose! How nice it turned out with all of those bright Valdani threads!
I hope you have a lovely weekend in spite of the cold. I spent the day weekend and haven't picked up my needle.;( I hope to next week as we have rain in the forecast.

So glad to have you here visiting...
would love to hear your thoughts !
