is made with 14 different butter soft Wool fabrics.

All Wool pennies have been cut by hand in

beautiful Plaid, Houndstooth, Checked,

Herringbone, Boucle and Striped Wool fabrics.

Assorted Wool pennies have been embellished with

the Closed Blanket Stitch and the Star Stitch.

New Releases And A Stitching Tip...

 Spring has arrived here in Pennsylvania !

I've been working on several

projects, all at once...

'Cleome'

The Cleome is also known as

the 'Spider Flower'.

A combination of Punch Needle

and Wool Applique...

Deep Berries and Plum petals

and a wool panel with buttons,

make a lovely hanging mat.

This design was 'finished' with a 

wool backing, a bone ring for hanging

and a hand dyed ribbon.

'Morning Dove'

A simple Fraktur style design, 

that I have backed with wool.

I named this design for the Dove 

I hear in the 'morning',

outside my window...

The Morning Dove.

The Mourning Dove holds a 

special place in Folklore...

For soldiers, to hear or see one, 

it meant that no one was around.

Doves are seen as a sign of

Good Luck and Peace.

A Stitching Tip:

When sewing through

multiple layers of fabric,

I use a set of silicon Needle Pullers...

they help firmly grip the needle

and allow me to easily pull the needle

through the fabric.

They are not for 'pushing' the needle,

but they work super well

for providing the grip

needed to pull the needle through.

I purchased my set on Amazon,

in a size Medium/Large.

Wool Pennies On My Worktable ...An Online Show On Thursday...

I'm a Wool Penny girl,

through and through...

There is just something about 

Wool Pennies that captures

my attention...

Usually when I start cutting, 

I keep going until I can cut no more.

I like having a stash to grab from.

The small penny in my hand is 1/2 inch.

This 'Black Licorice' table runner

has been spoken for...

I loved the stormy shades of wool

used in this runner

and would like to make another...

not the exact same, but similar.

Wool - Ribbon - Pom - Ruching...

It's been very cold here in Pennsylvania...

a good time to be inside

'finishing' projects.

I'm pairing wool with punch needle.

Beautiful Drab Olive ribbon will be finishing

this 1769 Fraktur 'Where Love Grows'.

(Ribbon from 'Monahan Papers')

Red wool and dark red pom poms will

finish this 1744 Fraktur

'Forever True'.

These beautiful wools arrived last week.

Already stacked neatly 

on my wool hutch, ready to 'finish' projects.

is finished with 'Smoked Paprika'

Two New Stitching Buddies...

Pumpkins and Autumn 'things'

have been on my mind.

August always brings very hot days,

but the night time temps begin 

to slip, which means the morning

is just a little cooler and sometimes

layered in fog.

The wool and threads are once again

on my worktable.  Hand Embroidery

 is my 'go to' to embellish wool fabric.

This girl has been my 

'stitching pal' for the last week, 

while daughter #2 was at the Beach.

Can you not just get lost in those 

big brown eyes ? 

I'm not a city girl at all.

In fact, when traveling, I will always take

the country 'back road' scenic route.

But, I found myself on the road 

to Philadelphia recently - It was

a sweltering hot and stormy afternoon

and I was taken by the beauty of

the dark sky and the cityscape.

Needlepoint For Fun

I arrived home to find this...

in my hometown !

I am not a Needlepointer

(only because there are not 

enough hours in the day,

to do all I want !)

But, I do use many of the same threads

used for Needlepoint, in my work.

And the best part ?

(A proud Mama moment)

My #2 daughter has now

picked up Needlepoint and is 

loving it.  I now have a new Stitching buddy !

Small Stitching Treasures...

Small candy tins are calling my name...

I guess I have a habit of collecting 

all kinds of small sturdy containers,

with the idea of repurposing them...

A few scraps of wool...

Some scattered embroidery stitches....

A fancy button and some glass beads...

These small tins, that once held candy,

now hold my pins or other 

small stitching supplies,

or 'whatnots'.

I have these sitting around my Studio...

they always make me smile

when I reach for one of them.

And, this ALWAYS makes me happy...

This was waiting on my porch for me...

It's the simple things !

(Who doesn't smile when - 

'THE WOOL' arrives !!)
