Pillow Making...
When I finished punching my turtle design,
I wasn't sure how I wanted to 'finish' it.
Everything I'm not sure of, gets placed
on a pile. When it 'comes to me',
I'll know and will finish the project.
Sometimes, the pile grows for months !
I decided on a pillow, mostly because
I have a serious obsession with
this gorgeous wool !!
Wrong side of wool
After I finished punching the design,
I needed to attach it to my piece of wool fabric.
I ran a widely spaced running stitch around
the edge of the punched piece,
using the same perle cotton that was used
in the background of this piece...
Valdani Perle Cotton #P3,
(Aged White, medium)
I pinned the wool, wrong sides together.
Gently rounded the corners
and began blanket stitching the sides.
Another finish...whew,
half a dozen more to go...
Be well, my friends...

Awesome. I tried clicking on the picture to get a close up of the finish of the edge. Could you show us?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and how gorgeous it looks! I would also love to see it enlarged.
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow, but the quilt on the wall caught my eye. Wonderful! Particularly love the chicken. Great work as usual Rose.
ReplyDeleteThat is perfect! The fabric you used and the colors are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, that technique turned out spectacular!!!!!! Thanks for posting the close ups.
ReplyDeleteThat wool is PERFECT to compliment your son's turtle design. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous piece of wool... compliments the colors in the turtle perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful pillow. I can see why you like that wool. I love handling it so much. It looks so pretty there on your couch. Have a lovely day Rose.
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed as to how well you are able to match the stripes in the wool fabric. Is there a trick to it? Do you make pillow forms for your pillows? They look very form fitted. I was curious because I haven't seen small pillow forms. I made several wool pillows and I stuffed them, but wasn't happy with the end result really because when just stuffing wool the wool has stretch to it and it just didn't end up polished looking, plus I crochet lace for one of them and stitched antique lace for edging on one and the stuffing stretched the wool so much that the edging doesn't look good on them. I have put them away in a closet knowing I need to take them apart and start over, but I have to take stitching out of things and wool is the worst because it hides stitches so well.
