Ribbons, Hand Embroidery and Glass Beads
Can you guess what this bag is made from ??
Mattress Ticking...
The whole bag is made from mattress ticking !
The White lines are hand embroidered and the dark blue lines are covered with a ribbon that has been "couched" into place with glass beads.
So easy, with straight, clean lines.
Beautifully lined with the lining secured by Colonial Knots.
Bag measures 8.5in. x 5.5in. (21.59cm x 13.97cm)
This was a project offered by the Red Rose Embroidery Guild and taught by the extremely talented Irene Anderson.
Very, very beautiful !

This bag is fabulous! I've always loved ticking....and have bolts of the stuff. This is definitely a project to try out! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Regan...
ReplyDeleteYou have bolts of Mattress Ticking ???? You are one lucky gal. ;)
I actually made two of this design. One I made into a bag, the other one I will be placing in an old window frame.
Thanks for visiting !

Is there a pattern for the bag somewhere? I just love this. I have to make one, maybe more.

Hi Mary...
ReplyDeleteThe Pattern for the Hand Embroidered Sampler Bag can be found in the Hand Embroidery "Inspirations" magazine issue #13 from 1997.
It is no longer in print, however can be found in venues like Ebay, etc.
